17 November 2021: A trip on the tram to the University of Nottingham for a walk around the lake and visits to the Lakeside Art Gallery and that at the Janogly Centre. The walk around the lake was enjoyed in beautiful sunshine and with wonderful autumnal colours. The bonus was a number of very interesting displays outlining the cutting edge research work being carried out in one of the departments at the university.
The sculpture exhibition by women artists, including the well-known Barbara Hepworth, were amazing and the exhibition about the Pilgrim Fathers was very interesting, especially the video showing how the sculpture of the 'Pilgrim Woman' was created.
Another lovely visit, Jean, thank you!

Mel launching into his fascinating talk about the Carillon in Loughborough which is now in the process of being refurbished to house museum collections and memorabilia of local regiments. We are all looking forward to a visit later next year.
The monthly meeting of Ruddington WI in October was full of chat and laughter. We were "royally" entertained by our speaker, William French with tales of how he progressed from naval rating to butler to members of the Royal family. A fascinating story which included a harrowing account of his time in the Falklands aboard HMS Battleaxe, an interesting insight into the use of the Royal Yacht Brittania as a hospital ship in Aden and finally a humorous look at his life as a butler with Royalty, Lord Rothermere, and Nicole Kidman, to name but a few!.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for both members and visitors.
